Regardless of whether you’re still at the stage of having butterflies in your stomach or if you just want to take the time to (re)connect with the person who makes your heart flutter, Montreal is full of small places that are perfect for an intimate moment alone together. Here are five spots you shouldn’t miss, regardless of the atmosphere you’re looking for!
1. For a drink: Big In Japan Bar
Chances are you’ve heard about the Big In Japan restaurant? But did you know that this establishment has a sister bar? Warning! So you know now, it can be a bit of a challenge to find. But don’t worry, once you walk through the entrance that’s (let us just say now), not very attractive, a haven of fun awaits you. Is there anything sexier than candle light? No. Here, it’s impossible not to be seduced by the cozy atmosphere emanating from this mysterious place.
2. For a bite to eat: Restaurant Shinji
Shinji appeared several months ago between Griffintown and petite-Bourgone, right on Notre-Dame. It’s a Japanese-inspired restaurant with a Zen atmosphere, and décor that looks like it came straight from Tokyo. In the main room, you’ll find a single, common table with a skateboard-esque inspiration. Daring! Check it out to discover and succumb to its culinary delights, which are true to Japanese culture but presented in a dynamic, casual setting. I promise, it’ll be at the top of your favourites list too!
3. For a walk: Westmount Park
10.6 hectares of land, a beautiful river that winds around gorgeous old willows, and benches in shaded areas so you can have a proper cuddle… need we say more? After having a romantic picnic, head down to the Westmount greenhouses. It’s a little known paradise straight out of a fairy tale!
4. For fun: Tyrolienne MTL Zipline
They say effective seduction requires stepping out of your comfort zone. If you agree, then this unique experience is perfect for you! You can find Tyrolienne MTL Zipline in the Old Port of Montreal. It’s an urban street circuit that offers a breathtaking view of the city – provided you keep both eyes open!
5. To Learn: Ateliers & Saveurs
This is nothing like the long, boring, theoretical cooking classes you might have taken. Ateliers & Saveurs is the new generation of cooking classes, cocktails, and wine. The classes are accessible for everyone, and they offer a 100% friendly atmosphere so you can explore what interests you, try new flavours, and above all, have fun! This is a great activity for you to learn more about your partner, and yourself!
