A present, just for you
This year for Valentine’s Day, why not celebrate your love for… yourself! How? By booking an appointment with a boudoir photographer, who will make your sensuality and femininity shine.
What is a boudoir photo shoot?
It’s a photo shoot designed to show off your sensuality, your beauty and your sexy side. While you may be showing a little skin (or a lot, as lingerie is optional), there’s nothing sleazy about it. Quite the opposite, in fact! This experience is a unique way to mark special stages of your life (pregnancy, wedding, anniversary) and even to change the way you see yourself.
How does it work?
A boudoir photo shoot differs depending on the photographer to whom you entrust your derrière. For this article, we consulted Karine Huard, who has 13 years of experience in the field. She feels that boudoir photography allows women to discover themselves and is something that every woman should experience at least once in her life. “My approach is focused on self-discovery. There’s definitely a psychological element to these sessions, which are very personal. My goal is to have each woman walk away from this feeling very powerful.”
At your first meeting, during which the photographer gets to know you, your personality and your tastes, you will have everything you need to plan for the big day. To inspire you, there’s a lingerie glossary; to push the experience even further, there’s an automatic writing book with sentences to complete; and so you’ll be at your best, you’re given some homework (buy lingerie, get a pedicure). Huard takes care of all the little details up until the shoot. “I form a genuine bond with my clients; sometimes they’ll text me photos of lingerie to get my opinion!”
After a night in the hotel of your choice, Huard and her team, a hairdresser and makeup artist, arrive. Freshly showered, you can leave yourself in their careful ministrations while sipping a mimosa and nibbling on treats the photographer has selected for you. Once you’re ready, the shoot can begin. Huard guides you through the whole process, assuming the same poses and making you giggle.
Seven to 10 days later, you are invited to the studio for a private viewing of your photos, already retouched. No detail is overlooked. Huard provides a multi-sensory experience by playing music, dimming the lights and offering you a glass of wine. All you have to do is admire yourself. “I’ve only had two clients who didn’t cry when they saw their photos.”
How much does it cost?
What Huard offers is a bit more involved than a simple photo shoot. “The whole thing is spread out over three to four weeks. It costs the same as a one week all-inclusive vacation down south, but you don’t leave here empty-handed.” As well as having a new perspective of yourself, you also get a high-quality album with a Japanese silk cover, a testimony to your unforgettable experience. Why not browse through it with your man? Intense reactions are guaranteed!
You can find many photographers offering boudoir shoots on the web, each with their own rates and way of doing things. It’s up to you to choose!
